Discussion and possible action to approve the La Paz County Sheriff's Office to enter into Contract no. 2023-093-R2 with the Arizona Department of Public Safety to receive funds in the amount of $100,000 for strict enforcement of immigration and human smuggling, drug smuggling, gang enforcement, and employer sanction laws, as well as county jail costs relating to illegal immigration. This is a budgeted item, there is no match required, and there is no fiscal impact. - Sheriff

Discussion and possible action to approve the Agreement between the La Paz County Sheriff's Office and the Arizona Department of Public Safety for funds provided through the Local Border Support application in the amount of $579,975.40 for the purchase and upfitting of three undercover vehicles, mobile Wi-Fi, travel and training expenses, and personnel related expenses. This is a budgeted item, there is no match required, and there is no fiscal impact. - Sheriff

PUBLIC HEARING: Regarding Docket CUP2025-02– with no SITUS address; further identified as Township 3 North, Range 12 West, all or portions of Sections 03, 04, 05, 06,07, 08, 09, 10, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22 of the Gila and Salt River Meridians, La Paz County, AZ- in District 3, Supervisor Holly Irwin. Property owner BLM; 174 Power Global; Atlas North LLC; Agent Erin Bibeau requests to construct, operate, maintain, and decommission utility scale solar photovoltaic energy generating facility and associated components located on7,590 acres crossing land administered by the Arizona State Land Department and Bureau of Land Management in southeastern La Paz County, Arizona, approximately 33 miles west of the community of Tonopah along Interstate 10 (I-10). The Project includes the construction of a new single?circuit, 500 kilovolt generation-tie (a “gen-tie”) line that will be 2 to 3 miles in length to connect the Arizona Corporation Commission-approved Cielo Azul Switchyard to the planned, non-jurisdictional Atlas North Substation. The line crosses County lands, State lands (Arizona Department of Transportation right-of-way for I-10, Arizona State Trust Lands); and federal lands (managed by the Bureau of Reclamation associated with the Central Arizona Project Canal). The Planning & Zoning Commission approved, by unanimous vote, the Conditional Use Permit at their regular meeting of February 6, 2025. - Community Development
